Rodolfo Undergraduate Scholarship

The Kelvin Rodolfo Scholarship was established by Larry Lunardi (BS ’73; MS ’76) in late 2017 in honor of Professor Emeritus Kelvin Rodolfo. Professor Emeritus Rodolfo was a faculty member in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (formerly Geological Sciences) from 1966-1994. During his time at UIC, he maintained a robust research program while also focusing on curriculum development and mentoring undergraduate students. Dr. Rodolfo was selected five times by graduating seniors to receive the Silver Circle Award for Excellence in Teaching and twice received UIC’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. It was Dr. Rodolfo’s commitment to undergraduate education and student experiences that led Larry Lunardi to initiate the scholarship.

Application Eligibility and Process

  • Scholarship recipients demonstrate excellence in academics and promise for impactful contributions within the field of geoscience.

  • Applicants must be juniors or seniors majoring in Earth and Environmental Sciences with a minimum over 3.0 GPA.

  • The scholarship is awarded each Spring semester. Previous awardees are ineligible. Typical award amounts range from $500-$1000.
