Kelvin Rodolfo Scholarship for EaES Undergraduate Students
We are pleased to announce the Kelvin Rodolfo Scholarship for EaES undergraduates established by alumnus Larry Lunardi (BS ’73; MS ’76). Professor Emeritus Rodolfo was a faculty member in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (formerly Geological Sciences) from 1966-1994. During his time at UIC, he maintained a robust research program while also focusing on curriculum development and mentoring undergraduate students. Kelvin was selected five times by graduating seniors to receive the Silver Circle Award for Excellence in Teaching and twice received UIC’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. It was Kelvin’s commitment to undergraduate students that led Larry Lunardi to initiate the scholarship in his name.
This spring the Kelvin Rodolfo Scholarship was awarded to Lisette Corral and Nathan Mroz. Lisette is a transfer student who plans to use her EaES degree to study the remediation and reuse of contaminated industrial properties in Chicago. Nathan is a junior who is interested in pursuing teaching Earth science at the middle school level.
