Welcome to Gavin McNicol – Joining EaES in Spring 2021

Dr. McNicol will join the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences in January 2021. Dr. McNicol is a biogeochemist studying connections between Earth’s land surface and climate system. He uses a mix of laboratory, field, and computational methods to study biosphere-atmosphere exchanges of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane in ecosystems where water plays an important role, including wetlands, temperate rainforests, and human waste systems.

Dr. McNicol received his PhD in 2016 from the University of California Berkeley and is currently completing a postdoctoral position at Stanford University in the Department of Earth Systems Science.
