Funding Graduate Study

Application Fee:

Furthermore to expand participation for underrepresented students in graduate study, UIC offers a waiver to our application fee. For details, see https://grad.uic.edu/application-fee-waiver-programs/

Graduate Student Assistantships:

Most graduate students in EaES are supported through teaching or research assistantships. Students are considered for research assistantships (support from a research grant) if their faculty advisor has available grant funding. Teaching and research assistantships include a Tuition and Fee Waiver. Appointment letters for these assistantships are provided each term and include full details of this Waiver. Additional summer support may be available through your advisor’s research funding or other sources.

UIC Fellowships and Awards:

In addition, the Graduate College awards a limited number of fellowships and awards (https://grad.uic.edu/funding-awards/graduate-college-fellowships/). Some of these awards (e.g., the Access to Excellence and the University Fellowships) are based on an all-campus competition to outstanding applicants. These Fellowships, which include an annual stipend and a Tuition and Fee Waiver, are awarded primarily on the academic promise and scholarly achievement of the applicant. If you are applying for the fall semester and wish to be considered for these Fellowships, please be sure to check your eligibility and submit your completed application and all supporting documents by our January 15 application deadline.
